AlexANDER Helms, AIA, NCARB, IMA
Owner | Founder
Alexander Helms is the Owner and Founder of Apex Insights, LLC. Early on in his career, he worked as licensed Project Architect at several local architectural firms. After working in the industry for over 10 years, he decided to dive deeper into the business operations and financial management of the architecture industry in order to empower businesses to rethink how architecture can be a profitable industry and allow architects to spend more time doing what they actually love: design.
Prior to founding Apex Insights in 2026, Alexander served as Business Manager for a small architecture and interior design firm offering clients interior design, architectural, and construction services. In that role, he managed the company’s daily finances; developed and tracked annual budgets; developed and implemented procurement pricing structures; and managed the profitability of individual projects.
Beyond his professional work, Alexander supports his local AIA chapter, AIA Blue Ridge, as Treasurer and his state AIA chapter, AIA Virginia, as a member of the Finance and Audit committees. In addition to his architectural license, holds a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech.

Maggie is a nine-year-old, black lab mix that loves meeting new people and joining her dad at the office. Her role on the team is greeting all visitors, encouraging a healthy work life balance, and boosting morale.
When she’s not working, she loves to play fetch, walk around her neighborhood, and show off her favorite toys.
